A foreign worker’s impressively fluent Malay during heavy rain and flash floods at the MRT Titiwangsa station has captured widespread attention on social media. In the viral video, foreign YouTuber Alexey Brook interviews a Bangladeshi worker who responds confidently, clearly, and in simple yet accurate Malay.
The worker explained that the water level rose quickly due to continuous rain, adding that surrounding areas such as Gombak and Batu Caves were also affected. He noted that several vehicles were trapped but authorities managed to control the situation within a few hours—something he praised as a sign of strong disaster-response capability.
He further shared that he works near KLCC and experienced heavy rainfall there as well. Despite this, floodwater was largely prevented from entering key areas, demonstrating the efficiency of Kuala Lumpur’s drainage infrastructure.
Social media users applauded the worker’s command of the Malay language, commenting that Bahasa Melayu is re-emerging as a common regional communication language. Many also appreciated that foreign workers are learning the national language and becoming more connected with Malaysian society.
