KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s Immigration Department has activated the PTSK (Pengurusan Tinggal Lebih Masa Sektor Kawalan) program, aimed at assisting foreign nationals who have overstayed in the country for 90 days or less. The program allows eligible individuals to resolve their overstay by paying a compound fine, without undergoing court proceedings.
According to Immigration, the program applies to foreigners who still possess one of the following valid pass categories, even if the stay duration has lapsed: Social Visit Pass, Long-Term Social Visit Pass, Student Pass, Employment or Dependent Pass, Resident or Talent Pass, Temporary Work Visit Pass (PLKS), or Professional Visit Pass.
However, the program does not apply to individuals whose overstay exceeds 90 days, repeat offenders who have previously used the PTSK program, or individuals with criminal records or active warrants.
Procedure under PTSK:
Foreign nationals must visit the nearest Immigration office with their passport and, if available, their return flight ticket. After document verification, the compound fee must be settled on the same day. A Special Pass may be issued where necessary.
Compound Rates:
- 1 to 30 days of overstay: RM30 per day
- 31 to 60 days: RM1,000
- 61 to 90 days: RM2,000
Authorities emphasized that no reduction in compound fees will be entertained and payments must be completed immediately as part of the process.
Launched on 26 September 2025 as a pilot project, the PTSK program will gradually expand nationwide. The Immigration Department stated that the initiative is designed to encourage voluntary compliance and reduce long-term violations of immigration regulations.
