Negeri Sembilan’s Immigration Department has carried out a major enforcement operation, arresting 184 undocumented migrants at a battery factory located in the Nilai industrial area. The operation began at 7:50 a.m. and continued until 11:15 a.m.
A total of 40 immigration officers took part in the raid, supported by eight officers from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and eight personnel from the Seremban City Council (MBS). According to officials, 219 foreign workers were inspected, out of which 184 individuals were detained for immigration violations. The detainees, aged between 20 and 49, included 163 men and 21 women.
The breakdown of nationalities is as follows:
- 123 Bangladeshi men
- 58 Myanmar nationals (38 men and 20 women)
- 2 Pakistani men
- 1 Indonesian woman
Some of the workers attempted to hide behind factory machinery and product stacks to avoid arrest, but enforcement teams managed to locate all individuals.
Authorities stated that many of the detainees did not possess valid work permits or travel documents, while others had overstayed their permitted period in Malaysia. The cases are being investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63, the Passport Act 1966, and the Immigration Regulations 1963. All detainees have been transferred to the Lenggeng Immigration Depot.
The department reminded employers and the public that harboring or employing undocumented migrants is a serious offense, and strict action will continue against violators.
