KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has secured a major global recognition, with the Malaysian passport ranked as the third most powerful passport in the world according to the latest 2025 Passport Index. The ranking highlights Malaysia’s strong diplomatic standing, international trust, and the security standards of its travel documents.
According to the Immigration Department of Malaysia, holders of the Malaysian passport can travel visa-free to 174 countries, placing the nation among the top tier of global mobility privileges.
The index lists the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in first place this year, while Singapore and Spain share the second position.
Malaysia’s third-place ranking is shared with several European and East Asian nations, including Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Luxembourg, Italy, Denmark, Portugal, Switzerland, Greece, Austria, Norway, Ireland, and South Korea.
The Immigration Department noted that this achievement reflects Malaysia’s strong diplomatic relations, international engagement, and the implementation of advanced passport security features which enhance trust and reduce the risk of misuse.
