KOTA KINABALU — The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) Sabah has arrested 14 undocumented foreign nationals during enforcement operations carried out in several parts of the city. The arrests were made during two recent operations, Operasi Selera and Operasi Kutip.
According to a statement from Immigration Sabah, the first operation involved 23 officers who inspected 49 individuals. Eight people were detained, comprising six Filipino nationals and two Indonesians. All were suspected of violating Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for being in the country without valid travel documents or permits.
In the second operation, 21 immigration officers checked 24 individuals and arrested six more Filipino nationals, including five men and one woman. They are also being investigated under the same legal provisions.
All 14 individuals arrested in both operations have been transferred to the Kota Kinabalu Immigration Depot for further investigation. Immigration Sabah stressed that enforcement efforts will continue to ensure compliance with immigration laws and to curb the presence of undocumented foreign nationals in the state.
